Rubber Ducks, Not just for Children Anymore by Muneeb Ahmed
Remember the tune “Rubber Ducky” by the Muppets? It brought an image of a cute little rubber or vinyl squeeze toy to mind and all of the children had to have one. One squeaky yellow duck was swimming in a lot of bathtubs with children of all ages. Things have changed.
Originally made of rubber ducks they are now primarily made of vinyl or vinyl like materials. They still float and they still squeak but picking the right one out can be an art form.
Although little yellow rubber ducks are available in some stores, a quick trip across the World Wide Web will show an entirely different assortment of these little creatures. With prices ranging from.99 to $12 or more you are bound to find the perfect duck for you.
There are jumbo ducks. Yellow, but in 10-12 inch sizes. The squeak and float. Did you know that ducks that are weighted float better than those that are not weighted. The only shortcoming of the weighted ducks is they don’t squeak.
This should not be a problem for most, because the assortment is so wide, you would rather put them on a shelf in your bedroom or bathroom rather than risk the chance of them getting wet or perhaps being injured.
These little critters are the answer for gift-giving for the person who has everything or wishes they did. Whatever their interests are there is a Rubber Duck to make them smile. Big ducks, little ducks and lots in between.
If your gift recipient is a sports fan there are major league baseball ducks. NFL ducks will make your football fans smile and there even some for Basketball and hockey. Several team choices in each category are out there and also some major stars who agreed to be ducks.
Music stars are plentiful from Elvis to Michael Jackson. Unfortunately the Michael Jackson ducks are not collectors items and sold out. There are music stars from rock, classical and hip hop to please the most discriminating of musical tastes. If Mr. Duck is going to a musician, there is probably one that is playing his instrument such as saxophone, guitar and other great sound makers.
Movie stars abound with such favorites as Marilyn Monroe and Jimmy Dean. President Obama and Pope Paul all have ducks honoring them as well.
Are you a fan of the “Blues Brothers?” The mother superior and the brothers themselves are molded into wonderful ducks.
There are ducks of every size and shape. There have been some constructed that are several meters long. It’s a big, wide, wonderful world of ducks out there just waiting for you to need your shower gift, baby gift or something for someone that you just don’t know what to buy for.
James Brown, Mae West, The Wizard of Oz, Betty Boop and countless others are all preserved in the form of a duck. If your recipient likes chocolate, there is a duck that comes with a pack of chocolate candies. There is no end to the selection or to the smiles on your face when you see them.
